ABOUT
AJIN
[ah-jin]
Ajin Jeong is a student at New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering majoring in Integrated Design and Media with a minor in Media, Culture, and Communications.
Although she moved from Korea to the Bay Area when she was young, Ajin remained deeply immersed in K-pop and K-dramas, sparking a fascination with media and an aspiration to create her own. Her first hands-on experience came in high school when she joined a student-run news and features magazine. Initially drawn to journalism, Ajin became quickly drawn to design as a tool for storytelling — especially its ability to bridge language barriers, a theme that resonated deeply with her identity as an immigrant.
After beginning her studies in Media, Culture, and Communication, Ajin realized she wanted to expand her creative and technical skills. Transitioning into Integrated Design and Media, she has been able to combine her background in media theory with practice in graphic design, creative strategy, and digital production. Her design work includes layout design for Verde Magazine in high school and Baedeker Magazine in college, where she advanced to managing editorial roles. She also explored digital branding by managing social media for Proxy Real Estate. More recently, Ajin pitched a startup concept called Uncensored Sh*ts and created its user interface and experience, deepening her interest in product and interaction design. At NYU, she has also continued to expand her technical skills, studying computer programming, video editing, animation, and 3D modeling while pursuing independent projects.
Ajin is passionate about using design to tell compelling stories and create connections across language barriers, and, whether through editorial design, digital media, or emerging technologies, she seeks to merge creativity and strategy to make communication more engaging and accessible.
